Authority Control Community of Interest
Purpose:
The Authority Control Community of Interest is driven by the belief that patron searching in CLICnet is best served when name, subject, and uniform title headings are clear, correct, consistent, and up-to-date. The group exists to help CLIC catalogers provide efficient and effective authority control for bibliographic records in the database. Members attempt to keep abreast of issues and trends in the area of authority control, promote the upholding of national standards in the use of authority records, offer educational opportunities for CLIC catalogers in best practices for authority work, and provide database maintenance of authority files in CLICnet.
