Mediation and Advisory Round Table (MART)
Purpose:
The Mediation and Advisory Round Table’s purpose is to mediate conflict and to advise on issues for the Executive Director and for the Board at the Board’s request.
Controversial or unresolved issues in any CLIC group are to be brought the Mediation and Advisory Round Table (MART). If an issue is controversial and/or no consensus is reached, then the group needs to appoint a "champion*" to report this issue to the MART. At this time, the group should also establish a priority level for the issue to help inform the MART of its urgency. The MART Chair will send the call for meeting agenda items to both the MART list and to the committee chairs list.
The Mediation and Advisory Round Table consists of one public service and technical services staff member from each institution to provide resolution to issues and help facilitate faster decision-making within the Consortium. The MART will strive for consensus on all matters. Realizing that the issues that are brought to the committee are difficult, however, the committee will use a one vote per institution process when necessary.
The successful resolution and prompt decision-making process within CLIC relies on the knowledge, skills, and integrity of this group. Members of this group should strive to come to meetings prepared with the information shared in advance by the issue's "Champion" and local staff members' advice.
